Purpose / Scientific Focus
Groundwater-surface interactions • Agricultural soil nutrient and carbon dynamics • Riparian Zone biogeochemistry
The Elora Agricultural Research Station in Ontario is a University of Guelph research site focused on understanding water and energy dynamics in agricultural systems and their responses to climate and land-management practices. The site contains 18 high-precision weighing lysimeters that continuously measure changes in soil water storage, alongside meteorological monitoring, allowing researchers to investigate evapotranspiration, crop water use, soil–water processes, and the effects of soil type, crop rotation, and winter warming on agricultural water balance.
